Renewable Energy National Centre of Spain-CENER

General Info

CENER is the National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain. It is highly rated and internationally acclaimed, specialising in applied research and the development and promotion of renewable energies. Its trustees are the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Ciemat and the Government of Navarre.

CENER is engaged in wind, solar thermal and solar photovoltaic, biomass, bioclimatic architecture and renewable energy grid integration. It has modern accredited laboratories and facilities including a Wind Turbine Test Laboratory, a biofuel laboratory, a solar collector and photovoltaic module test laboratory, as well as a photovoltaic cell materials and processes laboratory.

CENER is currently developing a second-generation Biofuel pilot plant.

The Wind Turbine Test Laboratory (LEA) is unique in terms of its size and the power of the machines. It is able to test (up to 5 MW) and offers a broad and varied range of technical services, including, Blade test laboratory, Powertrain test laboratory (including a Wind turbine test bench, a Nacelle test bench and an assembly bench), and a Composite Materials and Processes laboratory. Field tests are also conducted and it has a 30 MW experimental Wind Farm.
