General Info

APERe (Association for the promotion of renewable energy) is a Belgian independent association that works for the
development of renewable energy in a context of rational energy use.

Awarded with the title of “permanent education organisation”, APERe
leads advising and education activities based on projects (campaigns,
information, training, missions of facilitator, studies) and field activities
(displays, lectures, animations). With its members and partners, APERe is also
a network bringing together academic and associative competences in the
Brussels and Walloon regions.

Solar energy expertise:
APERe acts as renewable energy info point for the Brussels region, with special
emphasis on solar energy (guidance, visits). The association also works closely
with the Environment Administration on a project aiming to ensure the quality
of PV and solar thermal installations. APERe is also in charge of the certification
of PV installations in the Brussels Region.

Wind energy expertise: APERe has been the wind energy facilitator
for the Walloon Region for seven years, working closely with the
administration, the wind farms developers and the citizens to ensure harmonious
development of wind energy in the Walloon Region. Along with this mission,
APERe has started the GP Wind project, a European project focussing on
environmental barriers in the development of on-shore and off-shore wind
energy, which will lead to a 'Good Practice' Guide to address these barriers.

Hydroenergy expertise: APERe has been the hydroenergy facilitator
for the Walloon Region for eight years.

Energy education and raising awareness: APERe is Energy Coach for
the schools that participate in the "Energy Challenge" organised by
the Brussels Region (primary and secondary schools). As “permanent education
organisation” (French-speaking Community label), APERe also coordinates at
least 20 raising awareness and education activities and two raising awareness
campaigns every year. The Belgian renewable energy weather forecast is one of
them. This Belgian project has now evolved into a European project called
EnergizAIR, coordinated by APERe. EnergizAIR aims to add qualitative energy
information to the regular weather forecast. The sun and the wind are not only
meteorological elements; they are also renewable energy sources. In the context
of conventional energy sources rarefaction and of climate change, the climate
news can pave the way for a deep cultural change. The idea is to add positive
indicators about the part of the energy needs that were covered thanks to
renewable energy sources. Those indicators stress the link between the weather,
the energy sources and our consumption, emphasising what we can do with the
available resources.

Renouvelle: APERe publishes a monthly webmag about sustainable
energy (5000 readers).
