General Info
Western Norway Research Institute performs research, analysis and studies on the environmental implications of energy use. This include energy use in transport(mobile energy), particularly alternative transport fuels and energy efficiency in transport.
The focus of Western Norway Research Institute in these fields is to improve the knowledge of conditions for increased use of alternative energy and energy efficiency actions and measures in transport. Other areas of specialty are environmental management, industrial ecology, nano toxicology and sustainable mobility.
Particular focus is placed on renewable fuel produced from biological material. This includes biodiesel, ethanol, methanol, biogas and hydrogen.
Areas of expertise:
Biofuels, hydrogen, alternative motor technologies, energy efficiency actions, toxicology of exhaust emissions.
Evaluation of alternative fuels and energy efficiency measures in transport.
Life-cycle assessment of alternative fuels.
Target Audience: Industry, transport companies, EU-commission, Local, regional and national government.
