PRO-SE aim to highly promote the alternatives on sustainable development to local community in Northeastern area for their sustainable living conditions. The development objective of the project is: By 2010 the use of sustainable energy in Thailand is increased in relation to total energy supply.

The immediate objectives are:

1. Identification, planning and implementation of sustainable energy projects by strengthening the capacity of selected NGOs, CBOs, LAs, provinces, districts, TAOs, educational institutes and local RET suppliers in Isaan.
2. Increasing the sustainability and local influence in Thai energy planning and policy through dialogue with local and central government institutions

Areas of expertise:

• A great emphasis on local area-base SE planning;
• A greater emphasis on capacity development through implementation of more and larger SE demonstration projects, (rather than awareness raising);
• More focus on the private local RET suppliers;
• An emphasis on documenting the RET constraints at local level through comprehensive SE planning and implementation;
• Focus on national energy policy by feeding experience from the local energy planning into the national energy planning process through EPPO and DEDE.
