The Power Systems Laboratory (PSL) at the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, is a research entity established in 1982. It consists of 5 professors, 4 senior reserarchers and 7 PhD researchers.

One of its major research areas concerns the efficient and intelligent use of electric energy. It has also participated in several national and European research programs. It co-operates closely with local energy authorities, energy market players and power producers. The aims of the PSL include:

  • research and development in the area of electric energy and sustainable development,
  • independent consulting services,
  • promotion of rational and efficient use of energy and
  • co-operation with other European institutions and enterprises in research activities and projects.

Areas of expertise:

  • energy planning and forecasting,
  • energy auditing,
  • distributed generation,
  • electricity markets,
  • energy conservation and management,
  • promotion of intelligent energy use,
  • energy policy,
  • demand side management and
  • power line communication applications in intelligent power networks.
