Our Regional Energy Agency was established in 2007 as a part of an international project co-funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe Program, under the priority axis “Creation of Local/ Regional Energy Management Agencies”. We have three main target groups: regional and local authorities, private companies and academic institutions; hence all of them are represented within our structure comprising a range of public and private actors to whom we are committed to grant consultancy services in terms of:

• Sustainable energy planning and management;

• Transferring good practices and know-how in the fields of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency;

• Developing projects in the fields of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency.

Our main competences and interests are in the following areas:

• Energy efficiency in industry and buildings – energy efficiency schemes, waste heat recovery and energy conservation;

• Renewable electricity, heating and cooling;

• Using biomass for heating, in combined heat and power (CHP) and trigeneration systems ;

• Smart activities: energy balancing, energy planning, energy management, smart metering;

·         Energy policy and support schemes.

Right now, we have an ongoing IEE project called ‘Regional Clusters for Energy Planning’ (www.regcep.eu), in the framework of which we collaborate with 11 organizations from 8 countries aiming at empowering 700 European enterprises grouped in 8 regional clusters towards integrating intelligent energy into their business practices.

Last but not least, our Agency intensively cooperates with Ruse University “Angel Kanchev” and particularly with its faculties of Electro-Techniques, Electronic & Automatics and Business & Management. The University itself is one of our most active and committed members because of its expertise in terms of:

• Business planning when using renewable energy sources;

• Supply chains;

• Energy efficiency in industry and especially in electrical drives;

• Smart grids, smart metering, distributed and decentralized energy systems;

• Bioenergy.

With regard to the abovementioned facts, it is a pleasure to me to tell you that in the context of the 2011 Call for Proposals of the Intelligent Energy Europe Program we are very interested in working together with your institution in one of the following spheres:

• Energy efficiency and rational use of energy resources (SAVE);

• New and renewable energy resources (ALTENER);

• Integrated initiatives in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe program.
