General Info

The International Solar Energy Society (ISES) has been actively engaged in advancing science, technology, policy and education needed for the efficient use of renewable energy and its practical applications since 1954. A multi-faceted, global membership organisation with individual and corporate members in more than 110 countries, the Society is a modern, future-oriented non-governmental organisation (NGO) accredited by the United Nations. The mission of ISES is simple and urgent: “Rapid transition to a renewable energy world.” With its long history and extensive technical and scientific expertise, ISES addresses the following goals through extensive communication networks and practical initiatives:
  • Encouraging the use and acceptance of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs).
  • Realising a global community of industry, individuals and institutions in support of Renewable Energy (RE).
  • Creating international structures to facilitate cooperation and exchange.
  • Creating and distributing publications for various target groups to support the dissemination of renewable energy technologies (incl Solar Energy Journal).
  • Bringing together industry, science and politics in workshops, conferences and summits on RE.
  • Advising governments and organisations in policy, implementation and sustainability of RE activities world-wide.

Since ISES promotes the use of renewable energy globally, their target audience includes governments, industry associations, companies, research institutes and the public at large.

Areas of expertise include:

  • Promoting the use of renewable energy technologies
  • Promoting energy efficiency
  • Implementing projects that have a regional or international focus in different categories (awareness, education, policy, etc.)
  • Development of an International Experts Network (IEN) to bring together experts and the people who require their services.

Target audience: Global audience / People interested in Renewable Energy.
