General Info
EUFORES is a non profit organisation aimed at promoting Renewable Energy Sources in the European institutions. EUFORES and its activities are financed by sponsorships, grants and members' contributions.
Since its establishment in 1995, EUFORES has developed an intense institutional activity, mainly at EU-level. During 2002, its activities focused on the implementation of the new Directive for electricity from renewable sources, the liberalisation of energy markets and the up-coming directive on biofuels. It also gives attention to the development of novel market instruments, such as source certification and labelling, as well as the discussions on climate change policy. As one of its key activities is the political promotion of RES, it also organises annual Inter-Parliamentary Meetings.
Furthermore, EUFORES is engaged in on-going studies aimed at deepening the existing knowledge on issues affecting RES development, such as legal-juridical concerns (ENER-IURE) or the impact on employment and economic growth of RES deployment (now followed up by the monitoring project MITRE). Its communication activities continue as well, through the publication of the newsletter "Renewables" and monthly reports, the proposal of position papers, the attendance at high level European events, the distribution of press releases, and the European project "The EurObserv'ER Barometer".
Membership is open to all organisations and individuals relevant to, and which can benefit from, the development of the renewable energy sector. For it's members only, it provides additional information services, such as monthly news up-dates, specific information searches and a forum for information exchange.
