EPIA has developed into an influential force in the rapidly evolving European energy sector. It is the worlds largest industry association devoted to the solar electricity market. The Association aims to promote photovoltaics at the national, European and worldwide levels and to assist its members in the development of their businesses in both the European Union and in export markets. In undertaking this mission, EPIA has built up close working relationships with the European Commission, European Parliament, various national government ministries and energy agencies, the World Bank and a number of United Nations bodies, as well as contacts throughout the global PV industry.

EPIA is a member of EREC (European Renewable Energy Council) - an umbrella organisation of the leading European renewable energy industry and research associations.

In addition, EPIA is coordinating the secretariat for the European Photovoltaic Technology Platform.
