General Info

The Council of European Municipalities and Regions is a voluntary organisation which has, since its creation in 1951, led by a group of European mayors, worked in favour of promoting local freedom and the contribution from local and regional authorities towards European Construction.


In 2003, CEMR unites 44 large national Associations of local and regional authorities in 31 European countries.
