The National Energy Foundation is an independent educational charity, based at Milton Keynes in the UK, controlled by an eminent Board of Trustees. Its objective is to work for the more efficient, innovative, and safe use of energy and to increase the public awareness of energy in all its aspects. Currently it is working in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Their main aim is to mobilise individuals, businesses and organisations to reduce their carbon emissions through energy efficiency and the use of sustainable energy solutions.

Core activities include:

• Consultancy services for a wide range of organisations that wish to consider renewable energy resource assessments, technical feasibility studies and advice in different areas which could include: energy efficiency, planning and logistics, environmental/energy strategy, information on grants/suppliers and financial analysis and estimates of carbon savings.
• Educational projects which involve visits to schools and public events with a unique mobile renewable energy exhibition, the Green Energy Machine (GEM).
• Managing the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme (EEAS) on behalf of the Carbon Trust. EEAS is the only UK quality standard awarded to organisations which recognises their achievements in energy efficiency.
• Operating as the secretariat for both the Solar Trade and Ground Source Heat Pump Associations.
• Running the Energy For Good Scheme working with Local Authorities, County Councils and EST Advice Centres. This helps householders and SMEs who are interested in purchasing renewable energy systems by giving them accurate technical and economic advice.
• NEF has developed many different training courses, which are provided on a number of different topics, both to individuals and to organisations. These can take place €in-house€ if desired.
