The Regional Energy Agency of West Macedonia (REA) was created in 1995, under the support of the EU / DG XVII (now DG Energy & Transport), in the framework of the "Regional and Urban Energy Management in the European Union". Nowadays, the REA receives support from the Regional Development Agency of West Macedonia (ANKO SA) and the Prefectures of the Region of Western Macedonia.
The purpose of the REA is the development of renewable energy resources, the rational use of energy, energy saving and the promotion of activities for the mitigation of impacts caused by the production and use of energy in the framework of sustainable development.
