The World Coal Institute (WCI) is a non-profit, non-governmental association of coal enterprises and associations - the only international body working on a worldwide basis on behalf of the coal industry.
Membership of the WCI is open to coal enterprises and associations from anywhere in the world, with member companies represented at Chief Executive level.
It's key objective is to provide a voice for coal in international energy and environment policy and research discussions. It undertakes lobbying publish material which will improve decision makers' understanding of coal and organise workshops.
The World Coal Institute also aims to improve public awareness about the merits and importance of coal through it's outreach activities. It has a number of publications, a newsletter and it's website.
