The core experitse of NewRail is based around 3 main research priorities. At present these are:

1. Materials, Structures and Design.
2. The Wheel Rail Interface
3. Rail Freight and Logistics

• Maintain a programme of railway and transport related research at UK universities
• Enhance contact between the rail and transport industries and academia
• Identify and obtain funding for railway and transport technology research
• Act as a focus for the transfer of ideas through the organisation and dissemination of events such as Conferences; Seminars; Open Days and Exhibitions.
