STRATEC was formed in 1984 by a group of transportation experts who were previously active for more than fifteen years in renowned consultancies and university research. The group owns all of the company assets, thus ensuring total independence of action. The ambition of STRATEC is to provide private and public decision-makers with state of the art advice and counselling in the transportation field. This requires an active involvement in on-going research a development activities.

STRATEC's principal activity areas are:

• transport planning and traffic management, more particularly for urban areas;
• aid to decision-making in every sphere of public management;
• assistance in designing regional or urban development policies; regional or urban planning and development;
• stated preferences surveys;
• impact studies and assistance in designing environmental protection measures, for example relating to the implementation of new transport infrastructures or to town and country development;
• management consultancy, particularly in the sphere of production and business strategy in the transport industry.

Since its foundation, STRATEC has conducted a large number of transport plans as well as regional and urban development plans mostly in Belgium in Belgium. STRATEC has also participated to a number of European projects.
