AMT is the Public Transport Company in the metropolitan area of Genoa (800.000 inhabitants).
The business sectors are urban and interurban public transport service, coach line, reserved bus service, school bus, shuttle bus between the airport and the city centre, disabled service and tourist bus; the operative modes are buses, trolleybus, hybrid bus, subway, public elevators funiculars railway and rack railway. The network is 785 km covered by 870 vehicles (123 bus routes 2.462 stops); the average daily passengers are 425.000; the total passengers carried in 1998 were 149 million.
AMT usually works with the help of telematics application (e.g. AVL system for monitoring and regulating 500 buses including real time information system and bus priority.)
