The main objectives of ABMEE are linked to the sustainable development of Brasov with energy efficiency and environmental protection as the basis of that development.

Specific aims are:

• To promote energy efficiency decisions and the use of alternative energy.
• To find efficient solutions for urban heating system in Brasov.
• To improve the public lighting system and to reduce the energy consumed.
• To improve the road traffic by means of joint public and private traffic planning.
• To control and improve the air quality by promoting clean energy and implementation of clean-technologies.
• To create a database of energy and environment indicators as basis for the sustainable development programmes.
• To promote, raise awareness and dissemination of results as well as specific measures in order to involve more deeply the citizens in energy saving and environmental protection.

The aforementioned objectives will be achieved starting from a detailed energy plan, for each energy field, implementing projects for raising energy efficiency. These aims and objectives will be accomplished through:

• The drawing up of a complete and detailed Energy and Environmental Masterplan, for each economic sub sector.
• The implementation of concrete energy efficiency projects,
• The implementation of research and development projects,
• Information, training programs, dissemination of results and awareness - raising measures.

ABMEE is involved in drawing up the local strategies of Brasov for the sustainable development, in charge with the local strategies for energy efficiency and environmental protection.

Areas of expertise: changing citizens behavior; disemination of specific information concerning RUE and RES; advice on specific energy issues, energy auditing, promoting new technologies concerning energy efficiency in buildings, CHP, insulation; increasing the awareness regarding environmental protection.

Target audience: both citizens, who can get advice on energy efficiency projects and Local Authorities, who will be provided assistance in defining and promoting energy and environment policy at local level.
