The Italian Thermotechnical Committee (CTI), affiliated to UNI (Italian Standardization Body) and acknowledged by Ministry of Productive Work (as independent no-profit association), is assigned the responsibility to carry out standardization work in the various sectors of thermal energy production, distribution and utilization. It benefits from the collaboration of private industries, public bodies, agencies and associations (around 400 experts in total) which, through their technical and financial support, enable CTI to operate in more than 70 national and international standardization working groups.

CTI is also involved in research activities concerning: testing of conventional and biofuels boilers, biodiesel production chain (LCA), pellet production chain, technologies for energy conversion of biomass, energy efficiency of different boilers for civil heating.
