Further Information

The mission of SP is to contribute to growth and competitiveness of industry as well as to safety, conservation of resources and a good environment in society. It does this through applied research and a wide range of services in technical evaluation and metrology. SP plays an active part in the move towards the efficient use of energy with minimum environmental impact. SP is engaged at several levels in research and development aimed at accelerating the essential transition to the long-term sustainable use of energy. It possesses Sweden's most extensive range of physical facilities and specialised knowledge in the energy technology field, with experience and expertise in materials technology, heating and cooling, combustion technology, fluid dynamics, chemical technology, electrotechnology, building physics, building technology, acoustics and other areas. It can deploy teams of experts in a range of specialised fields in order to provide holistic solutions. International research and standardisation are important parts of its work. It develops knowledge through research in cooperation with universities and institutes of technology, other research institutes and international partners. SP's research covers both fundamental and applied work. Its R&D provides a link between university research and practical application, creating new knowledge and giving birth to new ideas, which in turn develop new tools and incentives for further technical development. In order to make the best use of its resources, SP has set up centres of excellence in conjunction with universities and industry. Main areas are HVAC technology, combustional technology, emissions and climate change, heating and cooling, acoustics, building physics, material technology, dissemination of information, measuring technology, metrology.

Areas of expertise: HVAC technology, combustional technology, emissions and climate change, heating and cooling, acoustics, building physics, material technology, dissemination of information, measuring technology, metrology.

Target audience: Industry, society, research bodies and consumers
