GERG, the European Gas Research Group, is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1961 to strengthen the gas industry within the European Community by promoting effective, gas-related RD&D. Membership comprises fifteen major gas research organisations from ten European countries, each actively involved in natural gas research and development. The members serve a European gas industry which has the responsibility for supplying more than 80 million domestic, commercial, industrial and power generation customers.

Crucially, GERG represents a significant European reservoir of specialist knowledge, including in excess of 2000 R&D staff - a high quality research resource, which is second to none.
