Further Information

Energy Action Ltd is an Irish Registered Charity (CHY9639), limited by Guarantee, with Articles and Memorandum of Association. It has a voluntary Board of Directors, elected annually at its Annual General Meeting and drawn from a variety of skills in both the public and private sectors to facilitate the successful running of the organisation.

Energy Action was established in 1988, with the core objectives of alleviating fuel poverty in Dublin by provision of insulation in the homes of older people and creating employment opportunities for the long term unemployed that are creative, sustainable and ecologically sound. The charity has also established Irish external training programmes in insulation, energy rating as well as employment skill training for unemployed people. Energy Action is an approved training centre for F.E.T.A.C. City & Guilds and NVQ. At any given time it has around 60 Energy Action people in training. In addition, to meet the European Directive for the Energy Performance of Buildings, Irish Home Energy Rating training programmes have been introduced to meet the demand for surveyors. This programme is aimed at architects, engineers, surveyors, building contractors, and housing managers.

Energy Action has been involved in over 20 European Programmes over the last 15 years with partners in Denmark, Scotland, N. Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Romania, Czech Republic and Slovakia. These Programmes included Energy Efficiency, Social and Community, Unemployment and Training skills projects. Many of its partners have been involved with several projects throughout this period.
