Established on 8th January 1842, Delft University of Technology is the largest and most comprehensive university of engineering sciences in the Netherlands. TU Delft has eight faculties collectively offering seventeen BSc and more than twenty MSc programmes. Today, approximately 13,000 students and 2,100 scientists (including 200 professors) are involved. Each year, the University's cumulative research results in an average of 185 PhD dissertations, and over 4,000 publications in scientific journals. Research and education are interrelated. This is most notable in the MSc programmes which are research driven.
The faculty of Industrial Design Engineering offers an interdisciplinary curriculum encompassing one BSc and three MSc programmes.
Design for Sustainability (DfS) is the name of a research subprogram at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. It is also the name of the department responsible for this subprogram. DfS is one of three subprograms heading under the faculty research program "Life Cycle Engineering and Design".
The mission of "Design for Sustainability" - both the research group and the subprogram - is to develop, test, and diffuse methods and tools for aiding companies and institutions (and the designers and engineers that work there) to design products and services with superior eco-efficient performance.
