Islay Energy Trust is a charitable organisation based on the Scottish Hebridean Island of Islay that is interested in developing community owned renewable energy projects for the purposes of sustainability and local economic regeneration.The island community aims to become sustainable in its energy needs and the Islay Energy Trust seeks to realise this vision. The distribution of revenue generated from the sale of energy by the Trust is used for the economic regeneration of the island. It also desires to develop a sustainable transport system managed and run by the community as part of this sustainable energy vision.

The Islay Energy Trust is keen to work in partnership with other UK and EU organisations. It operates at present, on three spaitial planes and cooperates with organisations on the Local, Regional and and Transnational levels. It is working in partnership with organisations in Eire and Denmark on its present renewable energy Transnational project.
