AILE is working on energy savings and renewable sources of energy in agricultural and rural areas of Western France. Its main topics are :

• Diagnosis of farm engines: the association owns two test benches, one for farm tractors and one for sprayers. More than 1200 tests are performed each year.
• Non-food biomass valorisation: the association is particularly involved in the development of Short Rotation Coppice of willow, methanization and biogas farm valorisation and wood energy supply network.
• Territorial studies: the objective is to assist local authorities to implement energy policies in rural areas.

AILE is involved in two European programmes : WILWATER (LIFE) and PRACTISE (IEE)
