The aim of the Bremer Energie-Konsens GmbH is to develop an instrument of a new Bremen energy policy, which establishes cooperation between participants from politics and economics. It would include:

• Support of the local implementation of the results of the UN conference of Rio (agenda 21)
• Integration of economic and ecological requirements
• Promotion of cooperation between economics and energy policy
• Acceleration of the implementation of climate protection measures
• Support of the social dialogue upon energy-political requirements, targets and measures

The purpose of the organisation is the promotion, development and dissemination of knowledge and measures of climate protection, efficient use of energy, as well as the reduction of CO₂ emissions. Therefore the Bremer Energie-Konsens GmbH:

• develops, supports and promotes model projects
• supports research
• organises the transfer of information to the public
• provides a forum for energy information exchange
