Conclusions and Evaluation (1037 Kb PDF)
Across Europe today, cities and municipalities are all struggling to incorporate energy issues into the heart of the decision-making process. Energy and environmental concerns need to be considered alongside financial and social issues.
This conference explored solutions under development at the local level and enabled delegates to gain inspiration from national and European models that attempt to develop an integrated approach to sustainability. Several parallel workshops looked into the opportunities available at local and European level to remove barriers and support processes to transfer the existing knowledge ito our daily work.
The conference was broadcast live on the internet by the European Commission ManagEnergy Streaming Service and was aimed at those working with sustainable urban development in public bodies and the private sector in Europe.
The conference was inaugurated by Ms Mona Sahlin, Swedish Minister for Sustainable Development and Mr Elliot Morley, UK Minister for the Environment.
