Introduction to the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW)
Under the umbrella of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign (SEE), the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, the European Institutions and major stakeholders concerned with sustainable energy together put on the third edition of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), which took place in Brussels, Belgium, and in other cities across Europe from Monday 9 to Friday 13 February 2009, with additional side events taking place during the weeks immediately before and after.

Covenant of Mayors LogoThe EUSEW is the key annual reference point for sustainable energy issues in Europe and the events organised cover key topics that highlight the multi-sectoral nature of sustainable energy development and stress the need for everyone to work together towards a common goal. A central event of EUSEW 2009 was a prestigious signature ceremony attended by all signatory authorities of the Covenant together with top representatives of the EU institutions - the First Ceremony of the Covenant of Mayors which took place in the European Parliament on 10 February 2009.

On the 11 February 2009, the plenary session of the 2009 ManagEnergy Annual Conference, New Opportunities for Local Energy Actors, aimed to guide and assist local and regional actors as they take on the challenges offered by the Covenant of Mayors.

Details of ManagEnergy and other EUSEW events covering policy, funding, local action and other aspects of sustainable energy, including Video Recordings and Presentations are availabe by clicking on the links below.

ManagEnergy Stand and Partner Matching Service

Once again, the ManagEnergy Stand received numerous visitors who were able to pick up new publications including the 2009 Energy Agency Map and Good Practices Brochure and find out more about our activities.

More than 50 local energy actors complete Project Idea Forms and many more took advantage of the ManagEnergy Partner Matching Service to identify potential projects and project partners. Details of Project Ideas will be added to the Partner Search section of this website during late February/ early March 2009.

Evaluation of the ManagEnergy Annual Conference
All the participants that took part in the ManagEnergy Annual Conference were asked to complete a questionnaire in order to evaluate their impressions and provide feedback for future events. Responses were received from around 10% of participants and the results have now been analysed.

We are pleased to confirm that almost all of those who completed the questionnaire indicated that their general impression of the Annual Conference was that it was good or very good. In addition, individually the ManagEnergy Plenary event, workshops, training, stand and partner search facilities were judged to be good or very good by at least 77% of the participants.

Thank you to everyone who responded. We value your opinion and will be using the results of this evaluation to maintain high standards and tailor future events to your need.
