European Conference on Local and Regional Energy Management Agencies, Brussels 2001

Generic Workshop Objectives

The main objective of the workshops is to support the dissemination and replication of successful project outcomes in order to underpin Community energy policies in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.

The workshops will also contribute to the discussion of the potential role of the local and regional energy management agencies in the DG TREN future energy policy implementation; the added-value of local and regional energy management agencies in implementing and supporting the Community energy policies is manifested by the quality of solutions to alleviate barriers to energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.

Furthermore, the workshops will pave the way for follow-up activities in form of thematic seminars in order to reinforce co-operation between interested European energy management agencies within given thematic fields, to further develop the existing outcomes and to identify potential solutions (good practice) worth of replicating elsewhere in Europe, including the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC). All workshops should pay particular attention to the co-operation with the CEECs.

The conference workshop will focus on energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in buildings (1), renewable energy sources at local level (2), energy efficiency in transport at local level (3), combined heat and power (4), CIVITAS initiative (5) and on the successor programme(s) for SAVE and ALTENER (6).
