WHO/Europe’s HEAT for walking and cycling is an online resource to estimate the economic savings resulting from reductions in mortality as a consequence of regular cycling or walking: www.heatwalkingcycling.org. Results from HEAT can be used as inputs to cost-benefit-analyses, comprehensive health impact assessments or to make the case for new investment. Over 400 people have participated in the trainings so far and HEAT has been used over 20,000 times since its launch in 2011.
