Forthcoming ManagEnergy Events
Are you are a local or regional energy actor interested in organising a local event? During 2008, ManagEnergy will be arranging several workshops aimed at local and regional energy actors. The workshops will focus on such themes as renewable energy, energy efficiency and mobility and transport. We are therefore looking for energy agencies or other local and regional energy actors who would like to act as host for a workshop. This could be in collaboration with your own existing event, if appropriate. If you are interested, please contact Malin or Chiara on workshops@managenergy.net
Note: Even if your event doesn't directly involve ManagEnergy, you may be able to request advice on content, venues or speakers from the ManagEnergy Sectorial Advice facility.
Many ManagEnergy Events are recorded and made available online via the ManagEnergy Internet Broadcast Website.
Promotion of the Rights of Energy Consumers Conference
6 May 2008, Brussels, Belgium and Live on the Internet
The European Commission adopted, on 5 July 2007, a communication entitled "Towards a European Charter on the Rights of Energy Consumers" and at the same time launched a consultation on this issue which has resulted in over 70 contributions from across the EU.
As a follow-up, the Commission organises a conference in Brussels on 6 May 2008. The half-day conference, hosted by Commissioners Meglena Kuneva and Andris Piebalgs, will:
- officially present the results of the consultation;
- launch the Citizens' Energy Forum announced in the Third Internal Energy Market Package of 19 September 2007. In parallel to existing fora dealing with electricity and gas markets, this Forum will focus on specific retail issues, and involve all stakeholders in building an EU-wide retail market.
- propose a new approach to informing consumers by means of a European Energy Consumers' Checklist, designed to answer questions about local or regional retail markets. The Commission will prepare a list of relevant questions and invite national stakeholders to provide answers that will form an easily accessible data pool containing comprehensive local information in the consumer's language.
- propose a list of voluntary commitments by stakeholders, aimed at cooperation and improving rights beyond the existing legal framework.
The conference will be streamed live on the ManagEnergy Internet Broadcast Website at:
www.managenergy.tv and the video recordings will be available on the same site after the event.

ManagEnergy staff will be present at this event to discuss the services available to local and regional energy actors.
The Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia is delighted to host the 4th Bridging the Gap Conference: Responding to Environmental Change - from Words to Deeds. The conference is under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Dr Danilo Türk.
This conference will be the fourth in the series, the previous three Bridging the Gap events were in London 1998, Stockholm 2001 and Dublin 2004. It has been 10 years since first conference was organized. The activity emerged from out of an enthusiastic engagement of people who recognized the importance of joining forces with diverse actors (policy makers, researchers, experts) and thinking innovatively to solve environmental problems. While the conferences have been strongly led by countries, they have been substantially supported also from some European institutions (the EEA, DG Research, DG Environment and the Joint Research Centre) and sometimes also other organisations, such as WHO, have been involved. During 10 years "Bridging the Gap" has become a brand recognized and embraced by a wide network of people beyond the Eionet and EEA working in environmental research, assessment, monitoring and reporting.
