ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award

The best case studies submitted to ManagEnergy are promoted on this website as ManagEnergy Good Practice and representatives are invited to speak at ManagEnergy events throughout Europe. Of these, the very best are nominated for the ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award.

We will be presenting the next ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award during the ManagEnergy Annual Conference 2010. Case studies must have been submitted by 26 February 2010 to be considered for the 2010 award.

However, please continue to send us your case studies by filling in our case study template (260 kb .doc file) and sending it to: award@managenergy.net as these will be added to the website, assessed as good practice, and could even go on to win next year's award.

The winner of the 2009 ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award was The Energy Gain, Lidköping Municipality, Sweden and the runner-up was are the Stamp Stanley Walk-to-Millfield Project, Millfield Primary School, North Walsham, UK. These Good Practice Case Studies were presented by the actors during the 2009 ManagEnergy Annual Conference Plenary event, New Opportunities for Local Energy Actors on 11 February 2009, followed by the presentation of the awards by Commissioner for Energy, Andris Piebalgs.

Imma Mayol i Beltran and Andris Piebalgs with the ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award 2007In 2007, Barcelona became the winner of the first ManagEnergy Local Energy Action Award 2007 for their committment to Sustainable Energy Solutions in Barcelona, Spain. Sra. Imma Mayol i Beltran, Vice-Mayor of Barcelona and President of Agència d'Energia de Barcelona was presented with the award during the ManagEnergy Annual Conference plenary event, Global Energy Crisis - Local Energy Solutions, by the Conference Chair, Alfonso González Finat, standing in for Mr Piebalgs, who later took the opportunity to congratulate her in person (pictured).

The top two finalists for the ManagEnergy Local Action Award 2008 also presented their projects and the winning energy action during the ManagEnergy Annual Conference plenary event, The Covenant of Mayors: Contribution of Local Actors Towards a Sustainable Europe, and the winner was once again presented with their award by Commissioner Piebalgs. The winning action was, CAKES - Calderdale & Kirklees Energy Savers, UK. The runner up was Fossil Fuel Free Kristianstad, Sweden.
