Campaign for Take-Off: Renewable Energy PartnershipsCampaign for Take-Off Website | Renewable Energy Partnership Website
One of the most important vehicles of the Campaign for Take-Off was the concept of the "Renewable Energy Partnerships" between the Commission and promoters of renewable energy programmes, projects and initiatives. Basically an open expression of willingness in form of a declaration, these Partnerships provided a tool to encourage and enhance the visible commitment of public authorities in regions, cities and municipalities, industries, agencies and universities. Members of such Partnerships joined, within the scope of their responsibilities and possibilities, and promoted the Campaign for Take-off and contribute to the fulfilment of its objectives. They benefited from a series of promotional tools coordinated on European level such as CTO Conferences, the prestigious annual Award Competition, communication and media schemes. Those were created to reward the efforts and commitments made at local, regional and national level as well as to expose these efforts as showcases for the public in Europe and beyond.
130 renewable energy programmes and projects involving more than 700 partner organisations in the EU have joined the Campaign as Renewable Energy Partners in 2000-2003. These Renewable Energy Partners naturally became Partners in the successor Campaign - Sustainable Energy Europe.
