FP7 Energy.8.5: CIVITAS-Plus - Innovative Strategies for Clean Urban Transport

The 2008 Call for Proposals for Energy (FP7-ENERGY-2008-TREN-1) under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) was published on 29 April 2008. In order to support the preparation of proposals, the Directorate General for Energy and Transport (DG TREN) of the European Commission held an Information Day on 20 June 2008 in Brussels.

The aim of this event was to disseminate information about FP7 and the research areas open in the 2008 Call for Proposals on Energy within the Cooperation Programme, to give details about the main legal and procedural conditions, and to answer any questions.

The objective of CIVITAS-Plus is to test and increase the understanding of the frameworks, processes and packaging required to successfully introduce bold, integrated and innovative strategies for clean and sustainable urban transport that address concerns related to energy-efficiency, transport policy, alternative fuels and the environment. This work will build upon the latest research results and incorporate past experiences of the CIVITAS Initiative. Special attention will be paid to the specific requirements of clean and sustainable urban transport in Europe's countries and regions under rapid development, aiming at economic convergence in the context of Cohesion Policy.
