AEIDL - European Association for Information on Local Development
The AEIDL website includes details of projects and activities relating to Regional Development. It also includes several forums designed to facilitate exchanges of views from rural development actors. AEIDL is a non-profit making association specialising in the coordination of European networks and the provision of information and methodological tools to local development actors.

CEN - European Committee for Standardization

CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, was founded in 1961 by the national standards bodies in the European Economic Community and EFTA countries.
   Now CEN is contributing to the objectives of the European Union and European Economic Area with voluntary technical standards which promote free trade, the safety of workers and consumers, interoperability of networks, environmental protection, exploitation of research and development programmes, and public procurement.

BASREC - Baltic Sea Region Energy Co-operation

Energy ministers of the Baltic Sea region countries and the European Commission decided in their conference in Helsinki in October 1999 to set up the inter-governmental Baltic Sea Region Energy Co-operation (BASREC).
   The countries participating in BASREC are Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, and Sweden. The European Commission is represented by the Directorate General for Energy and Transport.

CoR - Committee of the Regions

The Committee of the Regions is the youngest of the European Union's institutions. It was created by the Maastricht Treaty of 1991, as a representative assembly with the job of giving local and regional authorities a voice at the heart of the European Union. CEMR - Council of European Municipalities and Regions

Energie-Cités

Energie-Cités is an association of European local authorities, mainly municipalities. One of the aims of the association is to provide its members with information on the promotion of sustainable local energy policies. The network extends over 20 European countries and includes about 100 municipalities, the majority having between 100,000 and 300,000 inhabitants.

EnR - European Energy Network

EnR is a voluntary association of European organisations having a responsibility for the planning, management or review of national research, development, demonstration or dissemination programmes in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

EURADA - European Association of Development Agencies

EURADA, the association of regional development agencies is a non profit-making organisation aiming to promote regional economic development through dialogue with the European Commission services, interchange of good practice among members, transnational co-operation among members, regional development agencies as a concept.

EURADA gathers around 150 development agencies from 25 countries of both the European Union and Central and Eastern Europe.

The events section of the website includes details of upcoming events, as well as presentations from past events.

FEDARENE - European Federation of Regional Energy and Environment Agencies

FEDARENE is the a European network of regional and local organisations that implement, co-ordinate and facilitate energy and environment policies. Regional and local agencies, ministries and departments working in these fields, are represented in FEDARENE.

FEDRE - European Foundation for the Development of the Regions

The FEDRE website includes the database "Directories of the Regions" available giving political and economic information on more than 750 regions and links to regional authorities and commercial bodies of the regions. Additional sections include Programmes, Events, News, Articles and Publications, Agenda and Partners.

ISLEnet

The ISLENET network was created as an initiative of the Islands Commission of the CPMR in the early 1990s with support from the European Commission. The Islands Commission promotes the pooling of knowledge and exchange of ideas between islands with different levels of development. ISLENET actively promotes the development of energy and environmental management through its activities.

REVES - European Network of Cities and Regions for the Social Economy

REVES is a unique European network that brings together Local Authorities and Social Economy Actors in order to create stable partnerships, common policies for a socially sustainable local development and to fight for social inclusion.

EIB - European Investment Bank

The task of the European Investment Bank, the European Union's financing institution, is to contribute towards the integration, balanced development and economic and social cohesion of the Member Countries.
   To this end, it raises on the markets substantial volumes of funds which it directs on the most favourable terms towards financing capital projects according with the objectives of the Union.
   Outside the Union the EIB implements the financial components of agreements concluded under European development aid and cooperation policies.

EIF - European Investment Fund

The European Investment Fund’s activity is centred upon two areas, venture capital and guarantees:

  • EIF’s venture capital instruments consist of equity investments in venture capital funds and business incubators that support SMEs, particularly those that are early stage and technology-oriented;
  • EIF’s guarantee instruments consist of providing guarantees to financial institutions that cover credits to SMEs.
European Energy Service Companies
The Energy Service Companies website offers some information about ESCO operating in the European market and their projects.
In recent years there has been an increased interest in the provision of energy services to achieve energy and environmental goals. In particular some new companies providing energy services to final energy users, including the supply and installations of energy efficient equipment, and/or the building refurbishment, have started to operate on the European market. What characterises these companies, defined as Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) from the traditional energy consultants or equipment suppliers is the fact that they can also finance or arrange financing for the operation and their remuneration is directly tied to the energy savings achieved.
Info-Regio Structural Funds Managing Authorities
The detailed management of programmes which receive support from the Structural Funds is the responsibility of the Member States. For every programme, they designate a managing authority (at national, regional or another level) which will inform potential beneficiaries, select the projects and generally monitor implementation. Leader+ Programme - Structural Funds Managing Authorities
Leader+ is one of four initiatives financed by EU structural funds and is designed to help rural actors consider the long-term potential of their local region. Encouraging the implementation of integrated, high-quality and original strategies for sustainable development, it has a strong focus on partnership and networks of exchange of experience.
