The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) is represents the interests of the wind energy community at an international level.

The main objective of EWEA is to ensure that the general public, the media, decision makers and politicians are made aware of the reality of wind power, and understand the rapid progress being made in the industry which will allow wind energy to play an increasing role as a clean power for generations.

Other objectives of EWEA are:

  • to act as a forum for the exchange of information and discussion on issues related to wind energy;
  • to organise workshops and conferences and produce magazines and brochures;
  • to provide a voice for wind energy in international debates on energy, the environment and development;
  • to promote and develop the use of wind energy in general.
  • EWEA are an accredited advisor to several UN agencies, European Union bodies and work closely with the World Bank, the International Energy Agency and with numerous governments worldwide. In 1997, EWEA was granted "Associated Status" by the United Nations Department of Public Information. This development is a recognition by the United Nations that EWEA's involvement in issues of interest to the UN warrant a formal special relationship.
