In order to prepare for the G8 meeting on 6-8 July 2005 in Gleneagles in Scotland and to promote local authorities as Climate Protection partners, a document entitled "8 Messages for the G8" was prepared by the Local Government Association (GB), the Council of European Municipalities and Regions-CEMR/Conseil des Communes et Régions d'Europe-CCRE, ICLEI, Climate Alliance and Energie-Cités.
