In October 2005, the European Commission IEEA (Intelligent Energy - Europe Agency) launched
its database of IEE projects, covering SAVE,
ALTENER, STEER,
COOPENER and Horizontal Key
Actions. In addition, descriptions of all projects dealing specifically with
sustainable energy in buildings (start date of contracts January 2005) have
been compiled in a single document.
The COOPENER projects focus on capacity building and training in developing countries. The
underlying aim is to strengthen local policies and legislation and to encourage sustainable energy services
for poverty alleviation and sustainable development. Links are drawn to the EU energy initiative for
poverty alleviation and sustainable development in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific.
