Synopsis
The DREAMS System (Demand Responsive Extended Area Mobility Services) is the result of a project proposal introduced by the Municipality of Milano (in collaboration with the Municipalities of Torino and Roma) in the frame of structural and permanent solutions for the sustainable mobility foreseen by the Decree of 22nd December 2000 that gives "Financings to the Municipilities for the realisation of radical policies and integrated interventions for the sustainable mobility in the urban areas." The DREAMS System is a technologically advanced platform for the organisation and the integrated management of the innovative collective transports in the city, and as complementary intervention to the whole, the general provisions is understood for the mobility in the metropolitan area. With DREAMS, the City of Milano intends to introduce a project of radical intervention, in terms both, in the existing network, of an innovative system's integration of collective transport, both of generation of a new kind of the programmed transport services, able to make them interactive with the demand and to offer an answer to the demands of competitive individual mobility, in terms of readiness of employment and flexibility, in comparison to the use of the car.
