Within the framework of the discussion following the publication of the Green Paper on Energy Efficiency, in November 2005, Energie-Cités published its opinion in both English and French.
Energy Efficiency is a stimulus for employment and innovation and the essential role of local authorities must finally be recognised
This initiative allows energy efficiency to be on the agenda of community concerns at the same time as energy prices continue to increase and the effects of climate change become felt more and more. Through the advice given by their board of directors, Energie-Cités is actively participating in the debate following the release of the Green Paper. A number of points still need to be improved to ensure that energy efficiency remains at the heart of the Lisbon Strategy and that the pivotal role of local authorities is recognised.

Cette heureuse initiative permet de mettre l'efficacité énergétique sur l'agenda des préoccupations communautaires au moment où les prix de l'énergie s'élèvent durablement et où les conséquences du changement climatique se font davantage sentir. Le Livre vert ouvre une discussion à laquelle Energie-Cités participe, au travers d'un avis adopté par son Conseil d'Administration. Beaucoup de points doivent encore être améliorés pour que l'efficacité énergétique soit au coeur de la stratégie de Lisbonne et pour que les autorités locales aient une place mieux reconnue.
