Abstract

Abengoa is a technological company that provides solutions for the sustainable development, the information society and the creation of infrastructures.

Abengoa is leader in Europe in the bioethanol industry and one of main producers in the US bioethanol market, with proven capabilities in the promotion, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of bioethanol plants.

Presentation from Abengoa in this conference summarises the following issues:

• Company's business activities and main figures, including an overview of the organisation and financial status of Abengoa.
• Bioenergy business area: showing operations in biofuels and main characteristics of Abengoa's bioethanol production facilities in Spain and USA.
• Strategic vision in bioenergy: introducing the vision on biofuel business and strategy activities worldwide developed by Abengoa.
• Current obstacles which difficult the development of the business in Europe: the conditioned approval of new European Directives for the Promotion and Taxation of Biofuels and the new European Directive on gasoline's specification (Red Vapour Pressure limit).
