Synopsis

Creation of a well-connected pedestrian zone, in which strolling and shopping represent the most important options. This is Spain's first such zone designed with no barriers for disabled people: all architectural barriers have indeed been removed.

The main characteristics of this zone include:

• car parks initially designed according to the needs of residents, along with the area's commercial and entertainment activities,
• creation of 30 km/h zones and strategic changes in traffic flows around the area, to try to eliminate, or at least strongly reduce, through-traffic,
• heavily restricted loading and unloading times, fruit of an agreement between all parties.

All projects are carried out with the participation of neighbourhood associations.
