Synopsis
A car sharing system was installed for municipal employees and municipality residents.
All municipality employees got a user card to operate the vehicle and have to do at least half of their car work trips by car sharing.
Trips have to planned conscientiously, which leads to less trips and less kilometres, meaning a cost reduction for the municipality.
The municipality came up with a private-public partnership (PPP): a car sharing provider is given free parking for its vehicle. Therefore, the municipality does not have to pay the usual registration fee. The running costs when using the vehicle are 0.39 € per kilometre driven and 1.95 € per hour between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
The car can be booked via Internet or phone. The keys are in the car, which is to be opened by a smart card of the registered user. Casing up is done via board computer.
For a fee of 72 €/year also private persons can use the vehicle.
Target groups: municipal staff - residents
Fields: responsible car use / mobility plans
