Abstract
The Energy Saving Partnership was developed and implemented in Berlin with the aim of reaching ambitious objectives for climate protection and reducing energy costs in the face of a tight budgetary position. Our Berlin model for saving energy can now be easily transferred to other local authorities and projects in the free market economy. The basic principle is quite simple: the Energy Saving Partner - the so-called contractor - pumps his know-how and the necessary financial means into the project. It is his responsibility to ensure adequate investments are made in the buildings and thus to guarantee the energy savings. Both partners share a handout of the cost reductions. Profits are reaped by both client and contractor - not forgetting important benefits for the environment!
