The ESTEEM project uses an innovative three-pillar complementary approach to robustfully speed up the penetration of energy saving, energy efficiency and RES-fuel technologies in the manufacturing industry. It raises awareness of the relevant decision makers, creates conscious customers of them and provides interconnection of the demand and supply side, letting the market forces to finish the job. Firstly an online cost-benefit calculator is introduced through massive promotion activities, which assists in estimating the potential savings on overheads using energy efficient technologies. The cut down on expenses and the demonstrated similar pilot projects raises the awareness of manufacturing industry players considering the use of energy efficient technologies. A state-of-the-art E-learning programme helps the target group to acquire updated knowledge on the issue to make the members of manufacturing industry a conscious customer. The E-learning programme is available from a password protected website; it generates a returning mass to the portal as well. The virtual marketplace accommodates the cost-benefit calculator, the E-learning programme and introduces several pilot projects; it magnetizes the demand side, members of the manufacturing industry. Here, the excited, well informed and conscious customers find suppliers and consultants of energy saving technologies as well as financial advisors and vice versa.
The proposed project shall be self sustainable in the future, provided that the suppliers of EST products and services are paying a registration fee for promoting themselves on the portal. The modules of the project can be easily enriched, adding more countries, introducing more products and services and engaging different target groups such as municipalities, educational institutions and individuals. Therefore the sustainability and continuity of the project is guaranteed.
