Workshop on TREATISE during Sustainable Regions and Municipalities 2007
Website: www.treatise.eu.com
Road transport is a major and growing source of CO2, the principal greenhouse gas responsible for climate change. It also produces emissions that damage human health; it creates noise and congestion and causes thousands of deaths a year through road accidents.Drivers can greatly reduce these impacts, however, by taking a few simple steps based around choosing a cleaner car, driving it more efficiently and using alternatives to the car when practical. In most cases these measures will lead to financial savings as well as environmental benefits.
The EC-funded Treatise project provides free training in environmental transport for energy, environmental and fleet professionals in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Netherlands, Spain and the UK. See the website to find out about dates, location and availability of training courses in your country.
Treatise has also written informative but accessible introductions to the subjects of Cleaner Fuels & Vehicles; Ecodriving; and Mobility Management and has created a pc-based ecodriving simulator, a green fleet management tool and a CO2 Calculator to encourage people to choose less carbon-intensive modes. All of these can either be downloaded, accessed or ordered from the website.
