Partner Search Request: Interactive energy - Energetic Sustanibility Solutions Demonstration Park, Portugal

Avis Municipality, Portugal is looking for partners for an IEE project that aims to create the "Interactive Energy - Energetic Sustainability Solutions Demonstration Park" and the construction of a spot to display different useful solutions in search of energetic reduction and the saving of natural resources in buildings, in a favourable perspective to environmental sustainability. This space will comprise a building where it will be shown the use of construction materials and techniques that reduce losses of energy, improving the construction thermal behaviour and leading to energetic certification of buildings.

The project will try to make the effects observable, in interactive environment, by constructors and users to divulge the good practices in the region and create employment in new areas of products development. The use of new solutions will tend to create market and new economical circuits, giving priority in another hand to the use of traditional and ancestral techniques and materials which, adapting them to today, will allow a recover of the "know how to do" that already exists and explore niches of market, that will create wealth.

The "Interactive Energy - Energetic Sustainability Solutions Demonstration Park" has many functions:

• The construction of a building with an auditorium, exhibition atrium, laboratories, work rooms, circulation areas and sanitary. The construction will be used as an example of environmentally sustainable solutions, regarding water and energy consumption. The building will be constructed with photovoltaic panels in the façade turned south, aiming energy production to self-consumption; with water heating solar panels in the roof, providing hot water to all the building; and passive climatic systems using air cooling pipes through the floor. The photovoltaic panels in the façade will also allow taking advantage of the heat coming from the back of the panels for air warming up in winter. Regarding the water consumption reduction and rationalization, DT - Dry Toilets Technology will be used. This is a technology developed, among other entities, by Tampere Polytechnic Institute in Finland. This technology allows, besides water rationalization in sanitary, to take advantage of the residues for fertilizer through composting. The project will also comprise in the construction of this building other techniques associated with an ecohouse concept, with demonstrative purpose.
• The interactive exploitation of Mediterranean flora and fauna - the way of living in our rural spaces and the importance of water in a territory with weak pluviosity and where water is a scarce resource.
• Birds and their habitats observation, inserted in an activity for which Alentejo has great potential - Birdwatching.
• The creation of interpretative courses, through pedestrian, cyclic and canoes circuits, encouraging ecological and nature tourism.
