Partner Search Request: Promotion 2E - Promotion of Energy-Efficient Appliances, Portugal

ENA - Energia e Ambiente da Arrábida, Portugal, is looking for partners for an IEE project. This project aims the reduction/elimination of barriers concerning the purchase of energy-efficient appliances. This project intends to raise the market share of energy-efficient appliances and, thus, to decrease the energy consumption at the household level. To accomplish this purpose, they will be analysed the reasons that lead the consumers to choosing low energy efficiency appliances instead of those of class A+ or A. Once those reasons have been identified, actions aiming at the reduction/elimination of the barriers that discourage the purchase of energy-efficient appliances will be implemented. Finally, the impact of the developed actions will be evaluated and the results will be disseminated.

Key Actions:

• Understanding which factors condition the decision making by the moment of purchasing new appliances;
• Training sales personnel on energy labels and life-cycle cost principles so that they use them as sales argument aiming the promotion of energy-efficient appliances;
• Training of technicians responsible for the installation and maintenance of appliances, so that the energy-efficient performance of the equipment will be a reality;
• Promoting the wholesalers and retailers that are habilitated to explain and to help their customers concerning the advantages of purchasing energy-efficient appliances;
• Analysing the possibility of creating special bonus or credit options for purchasing energy-efficient appliances;
• Promoting the development of simply energy efficient equipment;
• Analysis/dissemination of the obtained results.
