The aim of the EUREES project is to identify those measures that will best assist the European Union's renewable energy industries (Wind, Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal, Small Hydro and Biomass) to capture a significant proportion of the world market for Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs).
The individual strategies have been consolidated into a RET Export Masterplan which will identify promotion measures common to all technologies.
This publication outlines in a short and concise 15-pages document tomorrow's challenges for the European renewable energy industry to export their technology to markets outside the European Union. There is a considerable expansion potential for international market opportunities, particularly in developing countries. However, as the RES sector is mainly dominated by SMEs, there is a need to develop a concerted approach on European level to promote export of RES technologies outside Europe. Another conclusion from the report was that "a European Renewable Energy Export Council" would be a powerful tool to implement such a RES export strategy.
