Partner Search Request: Aviculture sector: the waste disposal as a resource in the heating/cooling production, Italy

The Region of Molise has a very developed aviculture sector and the productive capacity of its poultry breeding centres is very important at national scale. This sector presents two serious problems which have effects at environmental and economic level and which could be solved in a interconnected way:

1. the breeding centres need a constant temperature, which is commonly obtained through plants for heating/cooling production, requiring great expenses;
2. the breeding centres produce great amounts of chicken manure, a waste whose disposal is very expensive.

A very interesting solution of these problems is based on an integrated process: gasification of the chicken manure and use of the bio-gas in the heating/cooling processes within the farms.

This project, proposed by Chintana, aims to create and develop a heating/cooling market based on the valorisation of the chicken manure in the Regions with a very widespread aviculture sector. In particular, it aims to define the best dimensions of the plants, the best technologies, the best strategies in the management of the whole chain (production, storing, transport, gasification, etc.), identifying the more competitive, efficient and effective solutions under different points of view (financial feasibility, economic sustainability, energetic yield, etc.), matching the peculiarities of the different European territories which could take advantage from the results of the project.
