Summary of the Good Practice Profile
This good practice profile describes how the AGENER Energy Agency in Jaen (Spain) reacted to a problem of local government services in financing PV installations, and acted as an intermediary between the local banks, allowing PV installations could be installed at a rate and efficiency that would otherwise have been impossible. The installations have created a win-win situation with the local environment, communal authorities, and the region at large, and of course the agency, all benefiting.
Background
In late 2008 and early 2009, research was undertaken by ManagEnergy on management innovation and management good practice among local and regional energy agencies. This involved desk research and telephone interviews with more than 20 local energy agencies across a number of countries, leading to the identification of a series of management innovations among these agencies.
The purpose of this work was to identify and profile a number of management innovations and good practice of interest for local energy agencies' management staff, and to disseminate and share these with energy agency staff. The target group for this work included directors or other management staff from local and regional energy agencies, as well as other local energy actors such as staff from local authorities and other public bodies.
